Turkish Document Apostille for Germany
Germany is a Hague Apostille Convention member. For most Turkish documents destined for use there, a single apostille is sufficient — no embassy or consulate step is required.
The process
- Sworn translation into German (or English, depending on the receiving institution)
- Notarization of the translator’s signature
- Apostille, issued by the provincial administration (kaymakamlık/valilik) for most document types, or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for certain categories such as university diplomas and some official-body documents
What to check before assuming this is all you need
- Anerkennung (professional recognition) cases — common for healthcare professionals — often require specific document sets and translation standards (such as ZAB format) beyond the standard apostille chain. Confirm requirements with the specific German state (Bundesland) authority handling the recognition.
- University diplomas follow a different chain — see our diploma legalization guide.
- Adjudicative/legal documents (court rulings, criminal record certificates) use a different apostille authority than standard documents — confirm before starting.
