How Long Turkish Document Legalization Takes
There is no honest single number for “how long does Turkish legalization take.” Anyone publishing a universal 6–10 business-day total is describing a marketing average, not your file.
We refuse to invent a grand total on this page. Timing lives on confirmed, document-specific chains — and even those are ranges with open questions.
What actually consumes calendar time
- Document type. A power of attorney and a university diploma do not share a clock. Diplomas add YÖK or MEB verification and often an in-person appearance. See the diploma hub.
- Hague vs embassy. Apostille destinations skip the embassy queue. Non-Hague destinations add Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval plus the mission in Ankara. See apostille vs legalization.
- Appointment booking. On the UAE power of attorney chain, embassy online booking is the recorded bottleneck — not the translation day.
- Same-day exceptions are document-specific. Kuwait power of attorney has been observed as often completable within one business day once documents are ready, with an 11:30 embassy submission window. That window is not a Kuwait-wide promise for diplomas or civil records.
- Convention change dates. Vietnam power of attorney is only valid as a consular chain through 11 September 2026.
What this page will not do
- Copy the 6–10 day tables from country embassy pages onto document clusters.
- Add up notary + kaymakamlık + MFA + embassy into one number and call it a guarantee.
- Quote a Saudi, Canadian, or US “standard” duration. Those files wait on the receiving institution as much as on Ankara.
How to brief a client without a fake total
- Name document type and destination.
- Say which chain applies (apostille vs embassy).
- Name the known bottleneck for that pair, if we have recorded one.
- Add buffer for appointment retries and for any in-person Turkish step.
Country embassy pages such as UAE embassy attestation remain the generic service overview. Use the cluster when the document type is already confirmed.
Frequently asked questions
Can you quote a fixed number of business days for every country?
No. Duration depends on document type, whether YÖK or an embassy appointment is in the chain, and the receiving institution's own checks. We record ranges on confirmed country pages and mark anything unverified rather than inventing a total.
Why do embassy service pages show a 6–10 day table if clusters do not?
Country embassy pages describe a generic all-document service path. Document-specific clusters do not copy that table, because a power of attorney and a diploma do not share the same bottleneck.
What usually takes the longest?
On non-Hague files, embassy appointment booking. On diplomas, the YÖK in-person or power-of-attorney requirement. On Hague files, waiting for a recent civil-status extract the receiving office will actually accept.
